Mayor of Portland Ted Wheeler held a tense meeting with protesters late Wednesday night where he was booed, told to resign by the demonstrators, and ultimately tear-gassed after a riot erupted.
“His visit ended with his security detail engaging in a struggle with protesters late Wednesday night as they worked to get the mayor to safety,” reports Fox News.
“As Wheeler left, a few protesters following him tried to push against his security team once he had entered a building. Others threw water bottles and other projectiles at the glass door,” adds Fox.

“I think what we’re doing tonight is actually the best thing we can do right now,” Wheeler told the crowd. “Be here, be heard, be unified, and be clear. We didn’t want them, we didn’t ask for them, they’re not trained for what they’re being asked to do. And we want them to leave.”

PORTLAND SPIRALS: Far-Left Mayor Blames ‘FEDERAL TROOPS’ for Violence, Vandalism in His City
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler bizarrely blamed “Federal Troops” for the current violence sweeping his city; saying their “tactics” are “making the situation much more dangerous” for local residents.
“Before the Federal Troops got here, violence was way down, vandalism was way down… The energy was coming out of the demonstrations. What happened is the troops came in, they used their Unconstitutional tactics, they injured non-violent demonstrators, and the whole thing blew up again,” said Wheeler.
