A looted business owner in Seattle told Fox News Wednesday he called the police at least 19 times after apprehending a robber but no one arrived on the scene.
“I chased him down and as soon as I came face to face, he came at me so I put him on the ground,” said the owner. “They alluded they were sending someone…finally said they weren’t going to send somebody… I don’t know what to expect next. If you can’t call the police department, you can’t call the fire department to respond, what do you have?”
The Seattle Police Chief dismissed the claim, saying her department “observed from a distance.”
“They did not see any signs of smoke or fire or anything else and they did not see a disturbance,” she said.
“I am very shaken up. I’m very disappointed in the city’s leadership. I’m very disappointed in the lack of police protection. I’m very disappointed that the fire department didn’t show up,” added the owner.

SEATTLE SPIRALS: Police Chief Has ‘Epiphany’ After Visiting ‘CHAZ,’ Says ‘Policing Will Never Be the Same’
Seattle’s embattled Police Chief had an “epiphany” over the weekend after attending George Floyd protests; saying “policing will never be the same.”
“I was looking at the 60,000 people that were there, signs saying, you know, defund the police, stop police brutality, you know, no qualified immunity. And there were thousands of people carrying those particular signs,” said Chief Carmen Best.
“And I just realized it was a moment, an epiphany, that this is a pivotal moment in history. We are going to move in a different direction and policing will never be the same as it was before,” she added.
“We need to re-imagine and re-figure out how we’re going to move forward as a country and as an organization to make things better for everybody,” she said during the interview with “Face the Nation.”

BATTLE for SEATTLE: President Trump Tells Local Officials ‘Take Back Your City, OR I WILL’
President Trump vowed to restore law and order in Seattle Thursday after protesters stormed city hall, demanded the mayor’s resignation, and created a six-block ‘Autonomous Zone’ in the heart of the city.
“Radical Left Governor @JayInslee and the Mayor of Seattle are being taunted and played at a level that our great Country has never seen before. Take back your city NOW. If you don’t do it, I will. This is not a game. These ugly Anarchists must be stooped IMMEDIATELY. MOVE FAST!” posted Trump on Twitter.
From Fox News:
“We’ve heard, anecdotally, reports of citizens and businesses being asked to pay a fee to operate within this area. This is the crime of extortion. If anyone has been subjected to this, we need them to call 911,” Assistant Chief of Police Deanna Nollette said on Wednesday.
Protesters calling to defund the police and make sweeping reforms to law enforcement tactics have declared a six-block region — spanning 13th Avenue past 11th Avenue, near Cal Anderson Park, and from East Olive Street to East Pike Street — the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” (CHAZ).
The region encompasses the SPD’s East Precinct, which was abandoned by cops on Monday following days of violent clashes between law enforcement and protesters in the wake of George Floyd’s death, as well as parts of Capitol Hill.
