A new study released by NASA this week revealed the earth is “greener” today than it was 20 years ago; citing “ambitious tree planting programs” for the surprising ecological development.
“The research published on Feb. 11 found that the greening of earth over the course of the last two decades has shown an overall increase by 5 percent, equal to more than two million square miles of extra green leaf area per year compared to the early 2000s,” reports Fox News.
“The data, which compared satellite images from the mid-1990s taken by Boston University and those collected from two NASA satellites orbiting the earth for 20 years, showed that both China and India are leading the way in the greening of the globe,” adds the study.
“Now that we know direct human influence is a key driver of the greening Earth, we need to factor this into our climate models,” added the researcher behind the study. “This will help scientists make better predictions about the behavior of different Earth systems, which will help countries make better decisions about how and when to take action.”

BRAIN FREEZE: Al Gore Says Climate Change Cooling... THEN WARMING the Earth
Former Vice President and climate-change crusader Al Gore warned social media of another “ominous” heat record set in Oman over the weekend, just months after claiming global warming was -in fact- cooling the planet.
Gore posted the dire prediction on Twitter Saturday, saying “another ominous record” was smashed when the “overnight Low” in Oman reached a staggering 108.7 degrees.
“Another ominous record has been set. The city of Quriyat, Oman, hit an overnight LOW of 108.7 degrees on Tuesday – likely the highest minimum daily temp recorded on Earth,” Gore writes.

The former Vice President was touting another aspect of climate change just last winter, when he said the global crisis was creating record low temperatures throughout the United States.
“It’s bitter cold in parts of the US, but climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann explains that’s exactly what we should expect from the climate crisis,” he tweeted.

BRAIN FREEZE: Climate Scientists BLAME SANDWICHES for ‘Global Warming’
As the northern hemisphere continues to struggle with plummeting temperatures and frigid snow, a new report from global climate scientists say the current “warming” crisis facing the planet may be caused by one of mankind’s favorite foods: The Sandwich.
Researchers at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom published the “explosive” report this week, claiming the human production, packaging, consumption, and waste from sandwiches is the annual equivalent of nearly nine million automobiles in just Great Britain.
Despite the food’s apparent invention in 1762, scientists now say the sandwich -particularly pre-packaged breakfast sandwiches- generates massive carbon footprints that help contribute to the gradual warming of planet earth.
“Altogether the team looked at 40 different sandwich types, recipes and combinations. They found the highest carbon footprints for the sandwiches with pork meat (bacon, ham or sausages) and those containing cheese or prawns,” says the study.
“Consuming 11.5 billion sandwiches annually in the UK generates, on average, 9.5 million tonnes of CO2 eq., equivalent to the annual use of 8.6 million cars,” it adds. “The results show the largest contributor to a sandwich’s carbon footprint is the agricultural production and processing of their ingredients. Depending on the type, this can account for around 37%-67% of CO2 eq. for ready-made sandwiches.”
