Because if Trump did it, it must be bad.
The View erupted into an on-air clash Tuesday after co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin blasted President Donald Trump’s push to … lower prescription drug costs through the TrumpRx program?!
The daytime talk show panel sparred over the administration-backed direct-to-consumer prescription platform, which now reportedly offers discounts on more than 600 medications.
Behar immediately mocked the initiative and suggested Americans should not trust anything tied to Trump’s name.
“First of all, you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas,” Behar said. “Once Trump puts his name on prescriptions, we’re all going to die, okay?”
She then rattled off a list of past Trump-branded ventures, including Trump Shuttle, Trump Vodka, Trump University, and Trump casinos, arguing they reflected poorly on the president’s business record.
Sunny Hostin backed Behar and questioned Trump’s motives for promoting lower drug prices.
“This is not a well-intentioned person,” Hostin said. “He is not doing this out of the goodness of his heart!”
Hostin also took issue with Trump saying he wanted Americans to become “wealthy,” arguing he should have focused on making them “healthy” instead.
But the criticism triggered pushback from some of the show’s other co-hosts.
Sara Haines defended the program’s practical impact, saying lower prices matter regardless of political opinions about Trump.
“This helps people,” Haines said. “People who are literally suffering from illness and cannot pay for their medicine.”
Hostin dismissed the argument, telling Haines she was being “so naive.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin also defended the savings tied to the platform, pointing to her own experience paying for IVF-related medication.
“A medication I had to take for IVF is a tenth of the price on TrumpRx,” Griffin said.
“The average family, one third of Americans cut back on essential foods and utilities to be able to cover their prescription drug costs,” Griffin added.“You’re not going to convince me that, just because Trump is involved, we should be like, ‘Screw it, don’t bring down prescription drugs.'”
