“There’s no question we have to be practical. But being practical also recognizes that climate change is an existential threat to us as human beings. Being practical recognizes that greenhouse gas emissions are threatening our air,” said Harris.
“Can we afford it?” asked CNN’s John King.
“Of course we can afford it… It’s not about a cost, it’s about an investment. The question should be: ‘Is it worth the cost?’” Harris responded.
DEMS IMPLODING: Bloomberg Compares Warren’s Policies to VENEZUELA, Says Harris Would 'Bankrupt Us'
Former New York City Mayor and likely 2020 presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg unloaded on members of his own party this week; equating Sen. Warren’s tax plan with Venezuela and saying the US can’t “afford” Sen. Harris’ healthcare proposal.
“If you want to look at a system that’s non-capitalistic, just take a look at what was perhaps the wealthiest country in the world, and today, people are starving to death — it’s called Venezuela,” said Bloomberg -referencing Warren’s proposed tax hikes.

“I think you could never afford that. I think you can have Medicare for all for people that are uncovered… to replace the entire private system where companies provide health care for their employees would bankrupt us for a very long time,” he added.
KAMALA CARE: Sen. Harris Defends Universal Healthcare Plan after Fierce Backlash
Sen. Kamala Harris doubled-down on her highly-criticized ‘Medicare for All’ program Wednesday after facing a fierce backlash over her proposal to “eliminate” private insurance companies across the United States.
A spokesperson for the campaign pushed back after multiple media outlets reported the firebrand legislator was “backtracking” from comments made at a town hall event this week.
“Medicare-for-all is the plan that she believes will solve the problem and get all Americans covered. Period,” said her press secretary. “She has co-sponsored other pieces of legislation that she sees as a path to getting us there, but this is the plan she is running on.”
Harris made national headlines following a CNN sponsored speaking event; saying “Let’s eliminate all of that. Let’s move on,” in reference to private insurance providers.
