Rep. Eric Swalwell abruptly dropped-out of the 2020 presidential race Monday afternoon; becoming the first Democrat to leave the crowded field heading into the second round of debates.
“California Rep. Eric Swalwell on Monday dropped out of the race for his party’s presidential nomination, becoming the first of what’s expected to be many Democrats to give up their presidential aspirations as the crowded field winnows down,” reports Fox News.
“Swalwell, who in recent polls failed to garner even one percent among primary and caucus voters, said he was abandoning his presidential run in favor of focusing on getting reelected to House of Representatives,” adds Fox.
“Being honest with ourselves, we had to look at how much money we were raising and where we were in the polls,” Swalwell said during a news conference at a union hall in Dublin, Calif. “We have to be honest about our candidacy.”

REPORT: Elizabeth Warren Introduces Legislation BANNING Nuclear First-Strike Option
Potential 2020 democratic hopeful Elizabeth Warren introduced legislation Monday to effectively ban the United States’ first-strike nuclear option; saying the bill would “reduce” the risk of a nuclear war.
“The Massachusetts Democrat has introduced a bill with Democratic U.S. Rep. Adam Smith of Washington that would make it the official policy of the United States not to use nuclear weapons first,” writes the Boston Herald. “The lawmakers say the United States currently retains the option to be the first to use nuclear weapons in a conflict, even in response to a non-nuclear attack.”

GOING GREEN: Top Democrats Voice Support for Ocasio-Cortez’ ‘Green New Deal’
A growing chorus of congressional Democrats are throwing their weight behind Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ ‘Green New Deal’ program; indicating the party is lurching left heading into the 2020 presidential election.
According to Fox News, eight potential Democratic candidates for the presidency have voiced their support for Cortez’ ‘Green New Deal.’ The program would drastically limit the amount of fossil fuels permitted in the United States and create a massive federal jobs program similar to Franklin Roosevelt’s ‘New Deal’ during the Great Depression.
“It’s time to go big on this issue with bold solutions. I welcome a Green New Deal and am excited to offer additional ideas to create meaningful jobs and address the crisis of climate change,” said Rep. Eric Swalwell.
Senators Warren and Booker are also getting behind the new entitlement program.
“We must take bold action on climate change & create a green economy that benefits all Americans. Thank you to @sunrisemvmt & activists for your inspiring work. Excited to support a #GreenNewDeal,” tweeted Sen. Booker in December.
