Former President Donald Trump authorized up to 20,000 National Guard soldiers to protect the Capitol two days before January 6th. After he did this, it was up to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Mayor of Washington D.C. Muriel Bowser to approve the Trump’s request. They blocked this request on multiple occasions. Why?
