Sen. John Fetterman turned a hallway interview into a full-blown media brawl after learning the reporter following him worked for Drop Site News.
“Oh, you’re Drop Site,” the Pennsylvania Democrat said, sounding amused as Capitol Hill reporter Julian Andreone approached him Wednesday.
Then Fetterman went on offense.
“It’s like a race between who’s the more pro-Hamas, Drop Site or Zeteo,” he said, referring to the outlet founded by former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan.
Fetterman, one of Israel’s strongest Democratic supporters in Congress, accused Drop Site of sympathizing with Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran.
“Your founders think it’s appropriate to attack and kill Israeli civilians,” Fetterman alleged. “That should be the news overall.”
Fetterman then questioned why Andreone worked for the outlet.
“Are you OK with taking your paycheck from these kind of people?” he asked.
Andreone tried to turn the conversation toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, asking whether Fetterman was comfortable with the Israeli leader visiting the United States.
“I’m OK,” Fetterman replied as he approached an elevator. “I love killing Hamas leadership.”
“I want your viewers to see how much I love to watch Israel eliminating the Hamas leadership,” he added. “I know that upsets a lot of your viewers and a lot of your founders. But I think it’s a great thing.”
