An armed civilian prevented a potential catastrophe in Florida over the weekend, neutralizing an attacker as he opened fire inside a packed park where residents were celebrating a ‘Back to School’ event for the community.
“A man involved in a fistfight with another person at a crowded park, left, and returned several minutes’ later with a gun and opened fire. The gunman was then shot by a bystander, who was lawfully licensed to carry a firearm,” read an official statement from Titusville, Florida city officials.
“The initial shooter was airlifted to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. His gun was recovered from the scene,” added the statement. “The bystander who shot the suspect waited for officers and has been fully cooperative with the investigation.”
“We are extremely grateful that nobody else was injured in this incident” said Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson. “This suspect opened fire at a crowded public park, this could have been so much worse”.

A “good guy with a gun” stopped a potential tragedy at an Oklahoma restaurant Thursday night; shooting and killing a gunman after he suddenly opened fire on patrons eating at the local establishment.
Law enforcement confirmed that a “bystander with a pistol” had fatally shot the attacker after he injured four people at Louie’s on the Lake in Oklahoma City; stopping the madman before he was able to kill any of his victims.
“Lake Hefner shooting update: A man walked into the Louie’s restaurant and opened fire with a gun. Two people were shot. One person has been taken to a hospital with serious injuries. A bystander with a pistol confronted the shooter outside the restaurant and fatally shot him,” write the Oklahoma City Police Department.
⚠️ ALERT: The only confirmed fatality is the suspect. He was apparently shot-to-death by an armed citizen. Three citizens were injured, two of whom were shot. A large number of witnesses are detained. There is no indication of terrorismat this point.

The incident comes just weeks after a gunman opened fire at a Waffle House restaurant in Tennessee, killing four people before an un-armed civilian confronted the attacker.
GOOD GUY WITH A GUN: Armed Guard WHO STOPPED School Massacre IDENTIFIED
The school security officer who “engaged” a would-be murderer in southeast Maryland Tuesday has been identified by local officials; with parents around the country praising his heroic actions that saved countless lives of students and faculty.
According to the Washington Post, police have named Blaine Gaskill, a 34-year old St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Deputy, as the guard who fired at least one shot at the unnamed attacker; stopping the rampage before any fatalities occurred.
While law enforcement have confirmed that Gaskill and the shooter exchanged fire, they claim it could take days to determine if the guard’s bullet was the one that struck and killed the assailant.
“Officials didn’t confirm whether Gaskill hit the attacker, who was pronounced dead at and has not been identified, or whether he took his own life,” writes the Post. “St. Mary’s County Sheriff Timothy K. Cameron said there was ‘no question’ that Gaskill’s quick arrival at the scene and immediate engagement with the shooter prevented more injuries.”
A 16 year old female student and a 14 year old male student were injured during the incident; with no known motive at this time.
