FRESH PRINTS: Watch A Furious Will Smith Smack Chris Rock Across the Face at Oscars After Wife Joke

In what may be the only interesting event to take place at the Academy Awards in years, Best Actor nominee Will Smith became so enraged over a joke made about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, that he slapped presenter comedian Chris Rock. Hard.

After Rock joked that he couldn’t wait to see Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, in “G.I. Jane 2,” Smith, who initially appeared to laugh at the joke, ran onto the stage and slapped Rock across the face.

“The audio was cut and censored for several seconds, but captions indicated that the ‘King Richard’ star said, ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.’ Audio from the uncensored Australian broadcast appears to confirm this.” The New York Post reported.

“Before Smith smacked the comedian, Rock had made a joke about Pinkett being in the fake action film because of her bald head; she has previously spoken about having a hair loss condition, alopecia.”

Smith went on to win the Best Actor award for his role in “King Richard.”

“Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family,” Smith said, moments after the wild scene.

“In this time in my life, in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world. Making this film, I got to protect Aunjanue Ellis, who was one of the most strongest, most delicate people I ever met. I got to protect Saniyya (Sidney) and Demi (Singleton), the two actresses that played Venus and Serena. I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people,” Smith said is his acceptance speech.
