FLASHBACK: James Comey Calls Barr a ‘Talented Person’ Who Will ‘Serve the Justice Department Well’

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.03.19

Despite the Democrats non-stop attacks aimed at the Attorney General in recent days, disgraced former FBI Boss James Comey publicly praised William Barr in December 2018; saying he will “serve the Justice Department well.”

“I like and respect Bill Barr.  I know he’s an institutionalist who cares deeply about the integrity of the Justice Department. So, I’m sure he’ll use the standard career resources he has to judge what he should be involved in or what he shouldn’t be involved in. But Bill Barr is a is a talented person who was a good Attorney General the first time. I liked him very much then. I think he’ll serve the Justice Department well,” Comey told reporters.

Comey’s comments come days after recently released transcripts showed former Attorney General Loretta Lynch directly rebuked the FBI boss’s Congressional testimony last year.

“So you do not believe you ever instructed him to call it a matter?” one lawmaker asked Lynch.

“I did not. I have never instructed a witness as to what to say specifically. Never have. Never will,” fired-back the former Attorney General.

Lynch’s comments directly refute Comey’s Congressional testimony.

QUESTION: And then you made a comment earlier about the Attorney General, previous AG [Lynch] asking you about the investigation on the Clinton emails, saying that you were asked not to call it an ‘Investigation’ anymore, but to call it a ‘Matter.’ And you said that confused you. Can you give us additional details on that?

COMEY: Well, it concerned me, because we were at the point where we refused to confirm the existence of an investigation –as we usually do– for months,. And it was getting to a place where that looked silly, because the campaigns were talking about interacting with the FBI in the course of our work.

The Clinton campaign at the time was using all kinds of euphemisms, ‘security review,’ ‘matter.’ Things like that.

For what was going on. We were getting to a place where the Attorney General and I were going to have to testify and talk publicly about it, and I wanted to know if she would authorize us to confirm we had an investigation. And she said yes, but don’t call it that, call it a ‘Matter.’ And I said why would I do that? And [Lynch] said just call it a ‘Matter.’

BARR BEGINS: The Attorney General Slams ‘Clear Mistakes’ in Steele Dossier, Says FBI's Use 'Strange'

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.17.19

Attorney General William Barr questioned the DOJ’s use of the infamous ‘Steele Dossier’ to obtain FISA warrants against the Trump campaign this week; saying the document has a “number of clear mistakes.”

“It’s a very unusual situation to have opposition research like that, especially one that on its face had a number of clear mistakes and a somewhat jejune analysis,” Barr told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer.

“And to use that to conduct counterintelligence against an American political campaign is a strange  would be strange development,” he added.

The FBI’s use of the now-debunked Dossier to surveil Trump campaign insiders is the subject of the Attorney General’s latest investigation; appointing a US prosecutor to “get to the bottom” of what occurred ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

“Fox News reported on Monday that Attorney General Bill Barr had assigned John Durham, the U.S. attorney in Connecticut, to conduct the inquiry into alleged misconduct and alleged improper government surveillance on the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election, as well as whether Democrats were the ones who improperly colluded with foreign actors,” reports Fox News.

“I am reviewing the conduct of the investigation and trying to get my arms around the aspects of the counterintelligence investigation that was conducted in the summer of 2016,” Barr testified on April 9.

“The FBI’s July 2016 counterintelligence investigation was opened by former senior agent Peter Strzok. Former FBI counsel Lisa Page, with whom Strzok was romantically involved, revealed during a closed-door congressional interview that the FBI ‘knew so little’ about whether allegations against the Trump campaign were ‘true or not true,’ at the time that they opened the probe, noting that they had just ‘a paucity of evidence because we are just starting down the path’ of vetting the allegations,” adds the report.

BARR TALK: The AG Dares Pelosi in Face-to-Face Meeting, Asks ‘Did you Bring Your Handcuffs?’

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.15.19

Attorney General William Barr reportedly met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi face-to-face Wednesday during an event at the Capitol; asking the top Democrat if she “brought her handcuffs” after accusing the senior Trump official of breaking the law just days ago.

“Colleague Jake Gibson rpts AG Barr spoke to Pelosi in person today, after the National Peace Officers Memorial Service at the Capitol. Source says Barr went up to Pelosi & asked her if she brought her handcuffs,” reported a journalist from Fox News.

“What is deadly serious about it is the attorney general of the United States of America was not telling the truth to the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi told reporters earlier this month. “That’s a crime.”

The House Judiciary Committee voted to hold the Attorney General in contempt last week after Barr refused to meet with Democrats to further discuss Robert Mueller’s “no collusion” final report.

“We will have no choice but to move quickly to hold the attorney general in contempt if he stalls or fails to negotiate in good faith,” Mr. Nadler said. “But the attorney general must make a choice. Every one of us must make the same choice. That choice is now an obligation of our office.”

“The choice is simple: We can stand up to this president in defense of the country and the Constitution we love, or we can let the moment pass us by,” he added.
