DEMOCRAT DEFIANT: Connecticut Lawmaker KNEELS During Pledge to 'PROTEST TRUMP'

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.25.18

A local Democratic legislator in Connecticut found herself in hot water this week after she refused to stand during the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance; opting to “take a knee” to protest the patriotic ritual.

Selectwoman Melissa Schlag of Haddam, Connecticut refused to stand during the Pledge on July 16th, with video footage of the incident surfacing on the internet and going viral within minutes.

“I felt nervous when I did it but I also felt powerful,” Schlag told the Hartford Courant. “If I don’t speak up, those who can’t won’t be heard.”

“The Pledge of Allegiance doesn’t have anything to do with the flag, in my opinion,” she added. “I believe in our country. I love our flag and the United States of America.”

One GOP candidate for governor slammed the protest, saying Schlag should “resign immediately.”

“One of the things the flag stands for—it stands for our freedom, it stands for our democracy,” said candidate Tim Herbst. “It stands for the fundamental ideal that we can have differences of opinion, but we all stand in respect of our flag because many people, including my 93-year-old grandfather who’s a veteran, fought in defense of the very liberty that the flag resembles.”

GAME OVER: NFL Team WON’T HIRE Free-Agents Who KNEEL During Anthem

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.06.18

At least one NFL team is putting its foot-down after an entire season of professional athletes choosing to “take a knee” during the performance of the US national anthem; intentionally avoiding free-agents who disrespected the American flag.

According to Fox News, the Houston Texans are reportedly refusing to hire protesting players that made national headlines throughout the 2017 season. Two agents responsible for connecting prospective players with NFL management say the Texans “aren’t interested” in players who “took a knee.”

“I spoke with two NFL agents this week who said word is the Texans aren’t interested in any players who participated in pregame kneel-downs in protest of police brutality,” writes the Houston Chronicle.

“There is no directive within the organization, but it is considered to be understood that as desperate as the Texans are to bring in talent, the pool of potential signees and draftees will not include anyone who has participated in protests or are likely to,” the author adds.

President Trump thrust the issue of protesting players into the national headlines last year, urging a national boycott of the “disgraceful” league until NFL officials and owners cracked down on athletes who disrespect the flag.

GAME OVER? Keith Ellison Calls for NFL BOYCOTT After ‘Kneeling Ban’

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.29.18

Deputy Chair of the DNC Keith Ellison called for a nationwide boycott of the National Football League over the Memorial Day weekend; saying he can no longer “watch this season” after the NFL’s “idiotic kneeling ban.”

The liberal legislator slammed the embattled league on social media during the holiday weekend, saying he “loves football” but “won’t be watching” after NFL owners unanimously decided that all players must remain standing during the performance of the US national anthem.

“Friends who know me, know that I love football. But I won’t be watching this NFL season because of the unfair cowardly and idiotic kneeling ban. #BoycottNFL,” tweeted Ellison.

The President hailed the league’s decision last week, saying officials and owners “did the right things” by requiring all personnel “on the field” to remain standing during the performance of the ‘Star-Spangled Banner.’
