A blast of arctic air is poised to plunge temperatures for more than 200 million Americans across the continental United States this week, with New York City predicting the coldest daily temperatures since 1873.
“Hundreds of record low temperatures are in jeopardy across the eastern two-thirds of the United States as a robust wave of Arctic air brings dangerously cold conditions more reminiscent of mid-January than November,” reports Accuweather.
“The cold will continue to shift south and east into Wednesday, finally encompassing more than half of the country,” said AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
The cold weather created travel chaos across the Midwest, with one plane dangerously sliding off the runway during landing at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

BRAIN FREEZE: Bernie Sanders Blames HEAT WAVE, Climate Change on Trump’s 2 Year Presidency
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders blamed the current heat-wave sweeping the Northeast USA on Donald Trump’s two-year presidency Friday; saying the Commander-in-Chief is “is threatening the lives of our children.”
“The past 5 years are the hottest on record
This June is the hottest June recorded
Thousands die in heatwaves around the world
Trump’s ignorance is threatening the lives of our children. For their sake, we must stand up to the fossil fuel industry and build a green economy,” posted Sanders on social media.

Bernie Sanders’ campaign was rocked by an official complaint from their own staffers this week; demanding higher salaries with many warning of “poverty wages.”
“Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders has pledged to American workers that he would institute a $15-per-hour minimum wage if he wins the White House in 2020,” reports Fox News. “But unionized workers on Sanders’ own campaign say they wish he would start now — by paying a higher wage to them.”
“According to a report, members of Sanders’ staff have been using the senator’s own campaign rhetoric against him as they try to wrestle more pay from the self-described democratic socialist,” adds Fox.
According to the Washington Post, staffers “cannot be expected to build the largest grassroots organizing program in American history while making poverty wages.”
“Given our campaign’s commitment to fighting for a living wage of at least $15.00 an hour, we believe it is only fair that the campaign would carry through this commitment to its own field team,” said a statement from the staffers.
“Many field staffers are barely managing to survive financially,” the union letter says, “which is severely impacting our team’s productivity and morale. Some field organizers have already left the campaign as a result.”

BRAIN FREEZE: Al Gore Slams Trump, Says US ‘Running Out of Time’
Former Vice President and climate-change crusader Al Gore took his war against the Trump administration to the next level over the weekend; blasting the White House as a “rogue outlier” and warning the US was “running out of time” to address global warming.
Gore posted his ominous message on his official website Sunday, saying the Paris Climate Accord did not go far enough to address the “scale of the crisis.”
— Al Gore (@algore) October 8, 2018
“The Paris Agreement was monumental, but we must now go further, ratchet up commitments and develop solutions that meet the scale of the climate crisis,” writes Gore. “However, time is running out, so we must capitalize and build upon the solutions available today. Solving the climate crisis requires vision and leadership.”
“Unfortunately, the Trump administration has become a rogue outlier in its shortsighted attempt to prop up the dirty fossil fuel industries of the past. The administration is in direct conflict with American businesses, states, cities, and citizens leading the transformation,” he adds.
