Texas Senator Ted Cruz ripped the Democrats’ ongoing impeachment charade at the US Capitol this week; saying Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler are simply “banging the table” because they don’t have facts.
“If you have the facts, you bang the facts. If you have the law, you bang the law. If you don’t have either, you bang the table. Today, we’ve seen a whole lot of table banging,” Cruz told reporters.
The Senate officially approved Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s impeachment rules after more than 12 hours of debate late Tuesday night; setting the stage for the third trial of a sitting Commander-in-Chief in US history.
“A marathon, 12-hour first day in the Senate impeachment trial against President Trump erupted into a shouting match well after midnight Wednesday morning, as Trump’s legal team unloaded on Democratic impeachment manager Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y. — in an exchange that prompted a bleary-eyed Chief Justice John Roberts to sternly admonish both sides for misconduct in the chamber,” reports Fox News.
“McConnell’s rules, which were eventually adopted in a 53-47 party-line vote at 1:40 a.m. ET Wednesday and largely mirror those from the Bill Clinton impeachment trial in 1999, permit new witnesses and documents to be considered only later on in the proceedings, after opening arguments are made,” adds Fox.
The Democrat impeachment ‘Managers’ slammed the procedures as “embarrassing.”
“It’s embarrassing,” Rep. Jerrold Nadler said. “The president is on trial in the Senate, but the Senate is on trial in the eyes of the American people. Will you vote to allow all the relevant evidence to be presented here? Or will you betray your pledge to be an impartial juror? … Will you bring Ambassador Bolton here? Will you permit us to present you with the entire record of the president’s misconduct? Or will you instead choose to be complicit in the president’s coverup? So far I’m sad to say I see a lot of senators voting for a coverup, voting to deny witnesses, an absolutely indefensible vote, obviously a treacherous vote.”

CRUZ ON FIRE: Ted Cruz SLAMS NY Times' Kavanaugh Hit-Piece, Says Paper has ‘Political Agenda’
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz unloaded on the New York Times Monday after the newspaper published a botched hit-piece on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh; deleting an embarrassing tweet and posting an official correction hours later.
“READ stunning NYT CORRECTION. If a high-school freshman did this on a school paper, he’d get an F. This is an outfit that has won multiple Pulitzers; presumably they know how to be actual journalists. It’s almost as if the reporters, editors, publisher have a political agenda,” posted Cruz on social media.

Chair of the House Judiciary Committee Jerrold Nadler backtracked against the Democratic Party’s recent push to remove Justice Brett Kavanaugh from the Supreme Court Monday; saying lawmakers are simply too busy impeaching President Trump.
“We have our hands full with impeaching the president right now and that’s going to take up our limited resources and time for a while,” said Nadler when asked to comment on Kavanaugh.
“Nadler’s interview comes amid calls from some Senate Democrats and presidential candidates to impeach Kavanaugh after a New York Times story over the weekend reported a new allegation of sexual misconduct against the justice from his time as a student at Yale,” reports Politico.

Prominent Democrats demanded the impeachment of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh Monday; citing a botched New York Times article that was eventually corrected by the national newspaper after widespread criticism.
“Last year the Kavanaugh nomination was rammed through the Senate without a thorough examination of the allegations against him. Confirmation is not exoneration, and these newest revelations are disturbing. Like the man who appointed him, Kavanaugh should be impeached,” posted Warren on social media.

“Brett Kavanaugh was put on the Court through a sham process and his place on the Court is an insult to the pursuit of truth and justice. He must be impeached. Sign our petition if you agree,” added Harris.

“This was almost a year ago. It is unsurprising that Kavanaugh, credibly accused of sexual assault, would lie under oath to secure a Supreme Court seat. Because sexual assault isn’t a crime of passion – it’s about the abuse of power. He must be impeached,” wrote Ocasio-Cortez.

The New York Times found itself in hot-water over the weekend after publishing an explosive “bombshell” on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh; posting sections of a new book that contained unfounded allegations of sexual abuse during his time in college.
“The New York Times suddenly made a major revision to a supposed bombshell piece late Sunday concerning a resurfaced allegation of sexual assault by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh — hours after virtually all 2020 Democratic presidential candidates had cited the original article as a reason to impeach Kavanaugh,” reports Fox News.
“The update included the significant detail that several friends of the alleged victim said she did not recall the purported sexual assault in question at all. The Times also stated for the first time that the alleged victim refused to be interviewed, and has made no comment about the episode,” adds Fox.
CRUZ ON HANNITY: ‘Nancy Pelosi’s Impeachment Circus is DONE’
Sen. Ted Cruz spoke with Sean Hannity Wednesday night on the House’s decision to finally transmit the Articles of Impeachment; saying “Nancy Pelosi’s circus is done.”
“The Senate has the sole responsibility to have the trial… Why are they talking about bringing in other people?” asked Hannity.
“The good news is Nancy Pelosi’s circus is done. We’re not going to see the one-sided show trial the House has engaged in for months. That farce is over,” said Cruz.
“The Senate will conduct a fair trial. We’ll listen to what they have to say. But we’re going to give President Trump the full opportunity to defend himself. Once the President defends himself, he will be acquitted. The Articles are ridiculous,” he added.
