New Jersey Senator and potential 2020 Democratic candidate Cory Booker doubled-down on his demands for stricter gun control measures over the weekend; saying American citizens should require a “federal license” to own firearms.
“The national licensing proposal is one of 16 that the Democrat from New Jersey unveiled on Monday in what his campaign touted as the ‘most sweeping gun violence prevention plan ever put forth by a presidential candidate,’” reports Fox News.
According to Booker, “a gun license demonstrates that a person is eligible and can meet certain safety and training standards necessary to own a gun.”
The liberal legislator said his policy expands upon “rigorous evidence at the state level demonstrating the connection between gun licensing and reduction in gun violence.”

BERNIE’S BUST: Even Democrats Think Sanders’ Jobs Program Goes TOO FAR
Leading Democratic lawmakers publicly distanced themselves from Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders this week after the ultra-liberal legislator called for a universal employment program; promising a federal job for “anyone who wants one.”
While some prominent Democrats supported Bernie’s socialist platform -such as Senators Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand- many threw cold water on the idea, saying it would prove far too expensive and unmanageable.
“I’m anxious for Bernie to show me how it’s going to be done,” said Sen. Dick Durbin. “He’s had some good ideas, but sometimes when it gets down to the actual cost of the idea, they need to be worked on a little bit.”
“I don’t know how he has in mind to pay for it,” added Sen. Richard Blumenthal. “I really would like to see the details. I’ve seen some headlines, but I haven’t seen a summary even.”
The plan was widely lampooned by Republicans throughout the Senate Wednesday, including many who saw the jobs program as a possible party platform heading into 2018 and 2020.
“If you’re a red-state Democrat, you’ve got to defend why a mass federal expenditure on a basic government takeover of the employment sector is appropriate,” said Sen. Gardner, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
BOOKER GOES BERSERK: Cory Says Republican Policies ‘Could Cause People’s Death’
Senator Cory Booker unloaded on President Trump and Republican leadership this week when he viciously stated that implementing GOP policies “would have hurt people” and would likely “cause people’s death.”
Booker was speaking with liberal podcast ‘Pod Save America’ when he was asked to comment on recent proposals from both sides of the aisle that the Senate abolish the so-called “filibuster rule.”
“To people on both sides, we are heading that way. You hear Trump calling for the end of the filibuster rule, and I understand that if I am the commander-in-chief, the president of the United States fighting a tactical battle, that that is something that is—we are moving toward,” said Booker.
“If Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, Donald Trump for the last two years, had complete sway, they wouldn’t have just changed policy, which is nice, they would have hurt people in my community, literally doing policies that could cause people’s death,” he added.
