Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar (D) was carjacked in the nation’s capital on Monday night after three men with guns threatened him outside his residence in Washington, DC’s Navy Yard neighborhood.

In a Tuesday morning statement, the Metropolitan Police Department said that the U.S. Capitol Police had taken over the investigation.

“The Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an armed carjacking Monday evening at approximately 9:32 p.m. at the intersection of New Jersey and K Street, Southeast. The victim was identified as a member of Congress and the United States Capitol Police took over the investigation. MPD is assisting Capitol Police’s Criminal Investigative Division,” the statement read.

“DC’s Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an armed carjacking that happened around 9:30 p.m. in DC’s Navy Yard neighborhood,” Capitol police said in a statement late Monday night. “The victim has been identified as a Member of Congress, so the USCP has investigators working with MPD on this case. Injuries were not reported. Detectives are working to track down the suspect.”

Cuellar says in the clip above that, while he does have a black belt, he was outnumbered and outgunned.
