Multiple outlets are reporting that Elon Musk may serve as temporary CEO after his Twitter takeover is complete. Musk has, historically, been very critical of the bluebird’s current leadership —now he may be cleaning house.
According to CNBC, “Elon Musk is expected to serve as a temporary CEO of Twitter for a few months after he completes his $44 billion takeover of the social media company, sources told CNBC’s David Faber.”
“Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has only led the company for a few months, after assuming the helm from Dorsey last November,” CNBC reports.” Until now, there hadn’t been much discussion about whether Musk’s takeover of the company would lead to a leadership shake-up. Last month, Reuters reported Musk had lined up a new CEO for Twitter, citing a source familiar with the matter.
Shares of Twitter climbed as much as 3% on Thursday morning on the back of the news.
Speaking at the Met Gala Monday night, Musk outlined some of the changes he has his eye on.
“I’ve also vowed this publicly that we have to get rid of the bots, trolls, scams, and everything. That’s obviously diminishing the user experience and we don’t want people to get tricked out of their money and that kind of thing,” Musk said. “I’m on the warpath! If somebody is operating a bot and troll army then I’m definitely their enemy!”
