Mayor of Washington, DC Muriel Bowser warned city residents this week they could face a $5,000 fine and possibly 90 days in prison should they violate the region’s ‘Stay at Home’ order during the Coronavirus crisis.
“Our message remains the same: stay home,” said Bowser.
“Mayor Muriel Bowser is threatening residents of Washington, DC, with 90 days in jail and a $5,000 fine if they leave their homes during the coronavirus outbreak,” reports the NY Post.
“The order is similar to dictates in neighboring Maryland and Virginia, but shocked residents of Washington, where there are just 401 of the nation’s 160,000 confirmed cases,” adds the newspaper.
“When we saw this order, we thought, ‘You want to send them where?’” said a senior member of the ACLU. “People being arrested for that causes all sorts of problems that are antithetical to the goals of lessening the virus.”

‘NOT ENOUGH’: Warren Says ‘Any Stimulus’ Plan Must Support ‘Workers Benefits,’ Not ‘Giant Corporations’
Failed presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren weighed-in Monday on the ongoing Congressional negotiations regarding a Coronavirus relief plan; saying any package must support “workers benefits.”
“Any stimulus must support workers’ payroll and benefits—not enrich wealthy executives of giant corporations. If we want to weather this crisis, we need to build the economy from the grassroots up,” posted Warren on social media.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell slammed his Democratic colleagues Monday for delaying a bipartisan Coronavirus relief package; with top aides accusing the liberal lawmakers of blocking the legislation over their “ideological wish list.”
“Republicans are accusing Democrats of using the coronavirus pandemic as an opportunity to push unrelated political agendas, as the two sides failed to reach an agreement Sunday night to advance legislation that would provide relief to American businesses and families struggling as a result of the outbreak,” reports Fox News.
“They ought to be embarrassed,” said Sen. McConnell. “This is no time for this nonsense.”
“We Democrats are trying to get things done, not making partisan speech after partisan speech,” fired-back Sen. Schumer.
This report is correct. Pelosi & Schumer are willing to risk your life, your job, your retirement savings for a radical, left-wing wish list that has nothing to do with this virus. Disgraceful. https://t.co/le9jlTB4KH

“As Leader Schumer continues to hold up the desperately-needed relief package, the last-minute list of demands from Pelosi’s and Schumer’s ideological wish list are coming into focus,” one senior Republican aide said.

‘STAY HOME’: New Yorkers Who Defy Social Distancing Rules Now Face $500 Fine
Big Apple residents who refuse to remain home or keep their distance at parks across New York City could face a major penalty, with officials announcing a $500 fine for violators who continue to congregate.
“Fines will be a last resort, but de Blasio has authorized police officers to give them out to people who are ordered to disperse but fail to do so,” reports Politico. “There were 32,308 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the city on Sunday, and the death toll climbed to 678.”
“They’re going to give people every chance to listen, and if anyone doesn’t listen, then they deserve a fine at this point,” de Blasio said. “I don’t want to fine people when so many folks are going through economic distress, but if they haven’t gotten the message by now, and they don’t get the message when an enforcement officer’s staring them in the face … that person then deserves the fine, so we’re going to proceed with that.”
“We’re going to be using every place we need to use,” de Blasio said. “This is the kind of thing you will see now as this crisis develops and deepens.”
