The official death count in California’s devastating wildfires rose to 77 people Monday, with over 1,000 people still missing as first responders rush to towns and communities totally destroyed by the inferno.
According to Reuters, 77 people are confirmed dead, approximately 1,000 people are missing, and over 10,364 homes have been totally destroyed in the wildfires.
“We have been told we’re to look as hard as we can, but it’s still possible we may not be able to find something left of someone,” said one volunteer. “If the fire stayed long enough and burned hot enough, the bones could, at a minimum, be fragmented down to such a small amount that we couldn’t see them, and it’s possible that even the dogs might not be able to detect them.”
Local officials urged residents to examine the current list of missing persons; hoping family members and friends could notify authorities should they have information that any of those individuals are safe.

CALIFORNIA CATASTROPHE: At Least 66 Dead, 600+ MISSING as Wildfires Rage
The historic wildfires ravaging northern and southern California claimed their 66th official victim Friday, with state officials confirming at least 600 people remain missing as first responders struggle to reach survivors.
“The number of people missing in California’s wildfires has soared to over 600, and the death toll has risen to 66. In the Camp Fire in Northern California, 631 people were unaccounted for after officials on Thursday added more than 500 names of people reported missing,” writes CBS News.
Thousands of people are homeless and living in “tent cities” across the state waiting to return to towns and communities under mandatory evacuation orders; prompting FEMA to set up relief centers throughout the region.
“I lost everything that I received from my mom, from my grandparents from the baby grand piano to china,” said one resident. “I lost my wedding album. I lost my children’s baby albums.”
“I’m trying to stay strong as possible for my family and my friends. And I’m trying to look at everything as positive as I can in these types of situations,” added another.

MAXINE ERUPTS: Rep. Waters Tells President Trump to ‘Keep his Mouth Shut’
Firebrand Congresswoman and anti-Trump crusader Maxine Waters trashed the Commander-in-Chief over the weekend; demanding the President “keep his mouth shut” on issues “that he has no knowledge of.”
Waters was speaking with MSNBC’s Joy Reid when she was asked to comment on the President’s response to the deadly wildfires ravaging her home state of California.
“The President of the United States attempts to talk about things that he has no knowledge of. He doesn’t even understand what goes into fighting a fire, and for him to come out talking about poor management is just another indication that the president is not willing to learn anything,” ranted Waters.
“He does not really care about others, and he’s on the attack all of the time. We wish he would keep his mouth shut. California does not need him to be talking about things that he does not know,” she added.
