New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand quit her 2020 quest for the Democratic nomination Wednesday evening; officially ending her bid to take-on President Trump in the coming months.
“I know this isn’t the result we wanted. We wanted to win this race,” Gillibrand said in a video posted to Twitter. “But it’s important to know when it’s not your time and to know how you can best serve your community and country. I believe I can best serve by helping to unite us to beat Donald Trump in 2020.”
Today, I am ending my campaign for president.
I am so proud of this team and all we've accomplished. But I think it’s important to know how you can best serve.
To our supporters: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Now, let's go beat Donald Trump and win back the Senate. pic.twitter.com/xM5NGfgFGT

GILLIBRAND GOES OFF: NY Senator Slams Trump for ‘NOT ACKNOWLEDGING’ Her Hard Work
Ultra-liberal New York Senator and potential 2020 challenger Kirsten Gillibrand unloaded on President Trump this week; slamming the Commander-in-Chief after he questioned her ability to “get things done” in Congress during a fiery speech.
The President called out Gillibrand during a televised address in Utica, New York Monday; asking the crowd “Has she gotten anything done?”
Gillibrand fired-back on social media just hours later, saying “The President refuses to acknowledge the work I’ve gotten done. Sound familiar, ladies?”

Gillibrand made national headlines weeks ago when she called for the total abolishment of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency; saying the department was fundamentally broken and should be replaced.
GILLIBRAND: Access to ‘Social Security’ is a ‘Right’ for Every Illegal Immigrant in the US
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand left millions of Americans scratching their heads during a campaign stop this week; calling social security a “right” for all illegal immigrants “in this country now.”
Gillibrand was speaking with supporters on the campaign trail when she pushed her calls for a “comprehensive immigration reform” package that includes access to social security and a pathway to citizenship.
“What will I do? I have a lot of ideas. First, we need comprehensive immigration reform. If you are in this country now, you must have the right to pay into social security, to pay your taxes, to pay into the local school system, and to have a pathway to citizenship. That must happen,” said Gillibrand to widespread applause.
