BOMBER BUSTED: Feds Finally Nab Suspect in DNC–RNC Pipe Bomb Case

Five years after a pair of pipe bombs rocked Washington on the eve of Jan. 6, the mystery suspect is finally in cuffs — and the FBI’s cold trail just got a jolt of life.

A male suspect was arrested Thursday morning, law enforcement sources told the AP, ending years of silence and speculation over one of the Capitol riot’s most baffling side stories.

Charges haven’t been released — yet — but the breakthrough confirms CNN and AP reporting and marks the first major movement in the case since 2021.

The bombs — “viable explosive devices,” investigators said — were planted outside both the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters on Jan. 5, 2021.

Surveillance footage showed a backpack-carrying figure bundled up in a gray hoodie, mask, gloves, glasses, and Nike Air Max Speed Turf sneakers.

The discovery came the next afternoon, just as Congress met to certify the 2020 election results — a session abruptly halted when Trump supporters breached the Capitol and forced lawmakers into hiding.

For years, lawmakers blasted the FBI for what they described as a stunning lack of progress. A January report from Reps. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) accused the feds of offering “little meaningful progress” and “refus[ing] to provide substantive updates,” even though investigators had “a promising array of data” and “numerous persons of interest.”

By February 2021, the report said, the bureau had already begun shifting resources away from the bomb hunt.
