SMITH SUBPOENAED! House Judiciary Subpoenas Jack Smith for Deposition

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan detonated a political firebomb Wednesday, slapping former special counsel Jack Smith with a subpoena and demanding that he sit for a closed-door deposition with the committee.

Smith — appointed in 2022 by then–Attorney General Merrick Garland to spearhead the investigation into President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents — quickly expanded his probe into Trump’s 2020 election challenges, igniting accusations of raw political targeting.

Smith had previously hinted he was ready to speak out in public, Politico reported. But that offer went nowhere — and his lawyer made sure everyone knew it.

“Nearly six weeks ago, Jack offered to voluntarily appear … in an open hearing to answer any questions,” attorney Peter Koski complained, slamming the committee for refusing a public spectacle. “We are disappointed that the American people will be denied the opportunity to hear directly from Jack.”

Jordan isn’t blinking. He’s running one of several GOP investigations into what Republicans say is full-blown political weaponization under the Biden administration.
