The mystery surrounding the Mandalay Bay security guard injured during Stephen Paddock’s deadly rampage earlier this month continues to widen; with his union boss telling reporters he hasn’t heard from the man since he visited an emergency care clinic days ago.
According to Fox News, security guard Jesus Campos suddenly vanished last week; disappearing just moments before he was set to address reporters and give “his side of the story.” Campos’ union boss spoke with reporters about his last minutes with the guard, adding he hasn’t heard from him since.
“For the past four days, he’s been preparing … we had a meeting with MGM officials, and after that meeting was over, we talked about the interviews, we went to a private area, and when we came out, Mr. Campos was gone,” said David Hickey of the Security, Police, and Fire Professionals of America.
“Right now I’m just concerned where my member is, and what his condition is. It’s highly unusual,” he added. “I’m hoping everything is OK with him and I’m sure MGM or the union will let [media] know when we hear something.”
Campos finds himself at the center of the ongoing investigation of the Las Vegas massacre earlier this month, the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States.
According to the official police timeline, Campos was shot as he approached Stephen Paddock’s 32nd story hotel suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino just moments before the gunman opened fire on a country music festival; killing 58 people and injuring hundreds.
