As more and more Hollywood celebrities and liberal politicians continue to denounce Harvey Weinstein in the wake of multiple rape and assault allegations, the same actors and actresses were singing a different tune in 2013; with many laughing-off the accusations during an Oscar nomination ceremony.
A-list celebrities, such as Matt Damon, George Clooney, and Meryl Streep harshly criticized Weinstein this week following a New York Times bombshell that exposed decades of sexual assault and misconduct.
“We know this stuff goes on in the world. I did five or six movies with Harvey. I never saw this,” said Damon. “This morning, I just feel absolutely sick to my stomach.”
The phony outrage is a distant cry from 2013, where Hollywood’s brightest stars openly laughed at Weinstein’s sexual scandal during an Oscar nomination ceremony hosted by comedian Seth MacFarlane.
After announcing the nominees for Best Supporting Actress, the host joked, “Congratulations, you five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein.”
The audience doesn’t appear too concerned, with the liberal actors and actresses chuckling at Hollywood’s worst kept secret.
