The former British spy who authored the infamous ‘Trump Dossier’ will be forced to speak on-record over his role behind the shady document when he gives his deposition in an ongoing libel case against the publishers of the unverified report.
According to Fox News, former MI6 operative Christopher Steele has been ordered to give an official deposition in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the website Buzzfeed and the events surrounding their decision to publish the shady dossier.
The former spy is fighting the decision in court; waging his own legal battle against the US District Court Judge who ordered his deposition, claiming it violates the privacy of his sources and clients.
Steele and opposition research firm Fusion GPS have been under investigation since Buzzfeed published the now debunked, 35-page dossier that contained salacious allegations against President Trump.
The document was used as a pretense to launch special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into allegations the Trump campaign colluded with Russian officials.
The President has routinely denied any accusations contained in the dossier, describing the document as “fake news” and “phony.”
“It’s all fake news. It’s phony stuff. It didn’t happen,” said the President “And it was gotten by opponents of ours, as you know, because you reported it and so did many of the other people. It was a group of opponents that got together — sick people — and they put that crap together.”
