The former governor was commenting on a recent article in the Wall Street Journal that called Schultz’ IT crisis “The Scandal that Matters.” In the article, the author states that, “based on what we already know, the Awan story is—at the very least—a tale of massive government incompetence that seemingly allowed a family of accused swindlers to bilk federal taxpayers out of millions and even put national secrets at risk. In a more accountable world, House Democrats would be forced to step down.”
Fellow lawmakers are calling for Wasserman Schultz’ to testify over her decision to keep Awan on her payroll for months after he was barred from the Capitol; raising serious questions over how much access he had to top-secret information and why he was paid nearly $150k per year.
Schultz maintains she is innocent of any wrongdoing, saying she felt she “had to do what’s right.”
