DON’T DEFUND SUCCESS! Bongino Says Thwarted UFC Terror Plot Proves FBI Reforms Work [WATCH]

Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is warning that efforts to roll back reforms implemented under President Trump could undermine recent gains in crime-fighting and national security.

Speaking with Sean Hannity, Bongino pointed to the recent disruption of an alleged terror plot targeting the UFC event held at the White House as evidence that the bureau’s revamped counterterrorism strategy is producing results.

“Sean, the only thing the Democrats are going to reimagine, if they undo all the work the Trump administration, Kash, and I did over the last year to get the FBI back on the right track, is a higher crime rate,” Bongino said.

Bongino argued that falling crime rates are the direct result of aggressive law enforcement efforts rather than chance.

“The crime rate didn’t fall to historic lows by accident. This is not rocket science. We’re arresting bad people who commit crimes. When they’re in jail, they can’t commit those crimes,” he said.

Bongino also cautioned against proposals to reduce funding for law enforcement agencies, saying the current threat environment requires stronger, not weaker, security measures.

“The national security threats we face right now are too serious to be playing around with calls to defund the police or defund ICE,” Bongino said.

According to Bongino, the recently foiled plot highlighted the effectiveness of changes made to the FBI’s counterterrorism and counterintelligence operations.

“The terror plot disruption we just carried out — alongside the outstanding work of the Secret Service — would never have happened without a serious drone mitigation program and a reorganized counterterrorism and counterintelligence effort,” he said.

“It simply would not have happened.”
