candal-plagued Maine Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner is facing renewed scrutiny after a report surfaced additional Reddit posts linked to his former online account, including one that appeared to mock a teenage girl’s failed suicide attempt.
According to a report published Saturday by the New York Post, an account using Platner’s former Reddit handle, “P-Hustle,” responded to a 2012 post describing a high school student who attempted to jump from a window after the death of a cousin.
The original post featured a photograph showing classmates preventing the girl from falling and was captioned: “A girl at my old high school tried jumping from a window because her cousin died the day before. These students saved her. I have hope.”
The P-Hustle account allegedly responded with the comment: “Someone clearly isn’t trying hard enough.”
The newly uncovered comment adds to a growing collection of controversial posts attributed to the same account that have surfaced in recent weeks.
Previous reports highlighted remarks allegedly made by Platner’s account that included comments describing rural white Americans as “racist and stupid,” posts accused of promoting racial stereotypes about Black Americans, comments interpreted as endorsing political violence, and remarks critics characterized as blaming victims of rape.
The latest revelation sparked immediate criticism from Republican leaders and conservative commentators.
Maine House Minority Leader Billy Bob Faulkingham told the New York Post that the comments reflected a longstanding pattern of behavior.
“Graham Platner is clearly a person with deep and disturbing psychological issues that predate his military service and continue to this day,” Faulkingham said.
Jason Savage, executive director of the Maine Republican Party, also condemned the newly surfaced post.
“Yet another example of abject cruelty from Graham Platner,” Savage told Fox News Digital.
“When someone tells you who they are, believe them,” he added. “Platner has told us repeatedly. Sadly, this time he was mocking the pain of a young woman facing a terrible loss. If this doesn’t show you who Graham Platner is, what will?”
