Even a child’s lemonade stand isn’t safe in blue cities…

Two Boston children trying to earn extra spending money for the summer were robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight while operating a lemonade stand in Boston, according to police.

The victims — an 11-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy — were running the stand in South Boston around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday when two juvenile suspects approached them, the Boston Police Department said.

Police said the suspects initially paced around the area before eventually stopping and asking the children whether they accepted Apple Pay.

Before the kids could answer, one suspect allegedly grabbed the cash box while the other lifted his shirt and displayed what police described as a black firearm tucked into his waistband.

The suspects then fled on foot with the box, which contained roughly $50.

The children immediately contacted their father, who called 911.

Authorities have not made any arrests, but investigators released surveillance images and video of the suspects as they continue searching for those involved.

The children’s mother, Jennifer Byrne, told local media the robbery left the family shaken and traumatized.

“My daughter said when they said ‘We’re taking it all,’ she put her arms up in the air and said, ‘Just take it. Just take it,’” Byrne told WCVB.

She said her daughter called her at work hysterically crying after the incident.

“‘Somebody put a gun to us and took all of our money,’” Byrne recalled hearing over the phone.

According to Byrne, a nearby resident later spotted one of the suspects carrying the children’s pink cash box and yelled at the pair to stop. The suspects reportedly dropped the box, grabbed the money inside and fled again.

The suspects were described as young black males. Byrne told WCVB her son estimated one appeared to be around 10 or 11 years old and was wearing a balaclava-style mask. The second suspect was described as an early teenager wearing a black Nike balaclava-style mask, dark clothing and high white socks.

“There’s two innocent little kids just trying to make some slush money, and they have to fear for their life,” Byrne said. “It’s horrific. It’s horrific. I have no other words.”

Ed Flynn said the armed robbery underscores ongoing public safety concerns in the neighborhood.

“The thoughts of our entire community are with the young children and the families who had to endure this terrible and senseless ordeal,” Flynn wrote on Facebook, while also calling for more police officers and expanded community policing efforts.
