SILENT TREATMENT: Ilhan Omar Ducks Questions On $250M Fraud Scandal

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.20.26

Rep. Ilhan Omar refused to answer questions this week about her alleged connections to Minnesota’s sprawling “Feeding Our Future” fraud scandal, fueling renewed Republican scrutiny over the $250 million scheme.

The Minnesota Democrat stayed silent Monday when approached by Fox News Digital in the halls of Congress and asked whether she would cooperate with ongoing investigations tied to the case.

“Did you ask Minnesota Democrats to block the subpoena for the investigation of Feeding Our Future on the state level?” Omar was asked. She did not respond.

She also ignored a follow-up question asking whether she would comply with any future House Oversight Committee subpoena requesting documents related to the investigation.

Federal prosecutors say the Feeding Our Future scandal siphoned roughly $250 million in taxpayer money through a fraudulent COVID-era child nutrition program scheme that became one of the largest pandemic fraud cases in the country.

Republicans have increasingly pointed to Omar’s involvement with the federal MEALS Act, legislation she sponsored in 2020 that expanded USDA waiver authority during the pandemic, arguing the bill helped create vulnerabilities later exploited in the fraud operation.

Omar has denied wrongdoing, but critics say she has repeatedly declined to directly address questions about her connections to individuals later charged in the scheme.
