A dramatic explosion rocked Lower Manhattan Tuesday evening when an MTA vehicle burst into a massive fireball near Wall Street’s iconic Charging Bull statue, sending panicked tourists and commuters sprinting away from the scene.
Terrifying video captured the vehicle engulfed in flames outside the Metropolitan Transportation Authority headquarters at 2 Broadway during the height of rush hour traffic.
Moments later, the fire suddenly intensified into a massive explosion, with witnesses seen running for cover as the blaze erupted near the busy Financial District landmark.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene near Broadway and Stone Street around 5:42 p.m., according to the New York City Fire Department.
The fire proved stubborn, taking nearly 90 minutes to fully bring under control, sources told The Post.
Despite the frightening scene, authorities said there were no reported injuries.
Officials have not indicated the fire was suspicious, though the cause remains under investigation.
Images shared online later showed the charred shell of the destroyed vehicle sitting outside a nearby Starbucks after firefighters extinguished the flames.
