Stephen A. was at the dinner when he heard a “pop.”

During Monday night’s Hannity, legendary ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith described what it was like inside the White House Correspondents’ dinner during the latest attempt on President Trump’s life.

“Everybody who was in there was from both sides of the aisle, mingling, taking pictures, and having a good time,” Stephen A. said. “We go into the building, and all of a sudden you just hear a little ruckus, and I heard a ‘pop pop’ — and the next thing you know, you see Secret Service running to the stage, and folks were screaming ‘Get down!'”

Stephen A. said protesters outside the venue were condemning the media, so it wasn’t beyond the realm of possibility that members of the media could have been targets; “That made it much more scary, as well,” Stephen A. told Hannity.

“There was a time when the left was quick to point to right-wing extremism. But over the last year, it’s been left-wing extremism … there’s no absolving the left of the incendiary rhetoric they’ve been throwing at folks from the other side,” Stephen A. said.
