The clock is ticking — and President Donald Trump isn’t interested in buying more time.
Donald Trump made clear he will not extend negotiations with Iran beyond the current cease-fire deadline, signaling a hard stop for diplomacy if a deal isn’t reached in time.
“Well, I don’t want to do that. We don’t have that much time,” Trump said in an interview on Squawk Box, rejecting the idea of letting talks drag on past the deadline.
The message: make a deal now — or face the consequences.
Trump framed the moment as a final opportunity for Tehran to reset its trajectory.
“Iran can get themselves at a very good footing,” he said. “If they make a deal, they can make themselves into a strong nation again, a wonderful nation again.”
But the president paired that optimism with a stark warning about Iran’s leadership, describing it as deeply problematic and resistant to change.
“They’re led by some very, very, unfortunately tough people,” Trump said. “And I don’t mean tough in a good way.”

Trump said that if the cease-fire expires without an agreement, he is prepared to escalate militarily.
“I expect to be bombing because I think that’s a better attitude to go in with,” he said.
With negotiations already fragile and questions swirling about Iran’s willingness to compromise, the deadline now looms as a potential turning point — either toward a deal or renewed conflict.
The administration’s posture leaves little room for ambiguity.
No extensions. No drawn-out diplomacy. No fallback plan beyond pressure.
