Arizona Senator and close Eric Swalwell associate, Ruben Gallego, accused Swalwell of living a “double life,” seemingly distancing himself from the embattled Rep.’s sexual assault allegations.
“Swall has called you his ‘best friend.’ You have never asked him about any of the rumors that have been swirling around democratic politics about his inappropriate behavior?” one reporter asked Gallego on the Hill on Tuesday afternoon.
“I did,” Gallego said. “Look, we knew each other differently than everybody else. My family and his family were as close as it gets. Our kids were in baseball camp together. We had dinner together as a family.”
Gallego continued: “But when there were rumors going around a couple of weeks ago … I asked him, and he lied to me … he manipulated me … to defend him.”
Gallego also accused Swalwell of living a “double life.”
“He lied to us. He lied to his constituents.”
