The suspicious device has been cleared.

The NYPD bomb squad rushed to investigate a suspicious container near Gracie Mansion on Tuesday, prompting the evacuation of a nearby park just days after authorities foiled a terror plot at the same location.

Police responded to reports of a suspicious item along East 86th Street near East End Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side shortly before midday.

The discovery led officers to clear out nearby Carl Schurz Park while bomb technicians examined the object.

“UPDATE: The device in Carl Schurz Park has been cleared and determined to be non-threatening,” the New York City Police Department wrote on social media. “This was an instance of everyday New Yorkers following a clear message: If you see something, say something. Call 888-NYC-SAFE.”

Authorities said the container was discovered in tall grass by a park attendant.

Investigators described the object as a large jar similar to a protein powder container, wrapped with camouflage tape around the body and black or gray tape sealing the top.

An X-ray scan revealed liquid inside the jar, prompting additional caution during the investigation.

Officials later determined the item did not contain hazardous material and posed no threat.

Gracie Mansion itself was not evacuated, police said.

The scare came just four days after police stopped an alleged ISIS-inspired bombing attempt outside the mayor’s residence involving two radicalized teenagers from Pennsylvania, heightening security concerns around the area.

“Earlier today, a suspicious device was discovered in Carl Schurz Park, near my home at Gracie Mansion,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani posted on X. “The NYPD responded immediately and secured the area. Thankfully, the device has been determined to be non-threatening.”

“Thank you to the NYPD officers and Bomb Squad members who acted quickly to ensure New Yorkers are safe.”
