What’s going on with these Blue-state Govs?
California Governor Gavin Newsom is under fire for a controversial comment made during a recent book tour stop. The Golden State Gov. cited his SAT score while speaking with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.
But it was the way he cited it that made headlines.
“I’m not trying to impress you, I’m just trying to impress upon you, ‘I’m like you. I’m not better than you.’ I’m a 960 SAT guy,” Newsom told Dickens during the Sunday night conversation.
“And I’m not trying to offend anyone,” the potential 2028 Democratic contender continued. “I’m not trying to act all there if you got 940 … You’ve never seen me read a speech because I cannot read a speech.”
Newsom was blasted for the tone-deaf statement, with many on X claiming Newsom tried to identify with Black Americans by claiming his test scores were low and he can’t read.
Newsom’s gaffe, which has been viewed tens of millions of times on X, brought another Blue-state governor’s racial gaffe back to haunt her.
Back in 2024, New York Governor Kathy Hochul claimed that “young black kids growing up in the Bronx don’t even know what the word computer is.”
TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet shared both clips on X, saying, “For those keeping score at home, the governors of the two largest Democrat states think blacks are very dumb: NEWSOM: Blacks have low SAT scores and can’t read. HOCHUL: Black people don’t know what a computer is. And yet, blacks will keep voting for Dems. Baffling.”
