DNA recovered from a glove discovered near the home of Nancy Guthrie was analyzed at a private laboratory in Florida after being sent there on Feb. 12 by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, according to law enforcement sources who spoke with ABC News.
Authorities said the Federal Bureau of Investigation examined DNA from the glove—located during a roadside search—and ran it through the national Combined DNA Index System, or CODIS. The search did not produce a match among the approximately 22 million DNA profiles in the system, the sheriff’s department confirmed.
Investigators also determined that DNA from the glove, which was found roughly two miles from Guthrie’s residence, did not correspond with DNA evidence recovered at her property, sources told ABC News. Officials said testing on the DNA found at the home is ongoing and additional analysis is still required.
“There were no DNA hits in CODIS,” the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said.
“At this point, there have been no confirmed CODIS matches in this investigation,” the department added, indicating that multiple samples may have been submitted for comparison.
CODIS contains DNA profiles from criminal suspects and individuals with prior convictions, and any match could help investigators identify potential suspects.
“There is additional DNA evidence that was found at the residence, and that is also being analyzed,” the sheriff’s department said.
Officials are also attempting to locate Guthrie by tracking signals from her heart pacemaker. Parsons Corp. said its BlueFly detection device—used both aerially and on the ground in Arizona—is capable of identifying signals from medical and wearable electronics, though the company declined to comment further on the search.
On Tuesday, officers were observed examining security cameras outside a neighboring residence while vehicles continued to arrive and leave Guthrie’s home in the Tucson area, drawing heavy media attention.
The 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, a co-anchor of NBC’s Today, was reported missing Feb. 1 after spending the previous evening with family. Video from a porch camera captured a man wearing a backpack, ski mask, gloves, long pants, and a jacket.
The FBI described the individual as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build. Gloves found about two miles from the home appeared consistent with those seen in the footage, authorities said.
