During Monday’s White House Press Briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked why it wasn’t “racist” for Biden to threaten to shut down the border but it was racist under Donald Trump.

“In the Spring of 2019, President Trump vowed to shut down the border with Mexico using almost the identical language that the President used on Friday —Democrats called that ‘xenophobic’ and ‘racist.’ Why shouldn’t people make the same conclusion about this president’s threat to shut down the border with Mexico?” one reporter asked KJP.

The Press Secretary offered little explanation in response.

“The new enforcement tools, that do not currently exist, that will be part of this bipartisan agreement, they’re a different definition of what that looks like,” KJP said, doing her best to spin.

“There are different definitions as to what that looks like…we believe it will be fair, it will be tough, but it will be fair,” KJP continued.
