The $1.7 trillion dollar spending bil has cleared the Senate —and Rand Paul is not happy about it.
Shortly after Majority Leader Chuck Schumer revealed “we have an agreement” on the spending bill, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) took to Twitter to unload on his fellow Senators for doings something so fiscally irresponsible.
“It’s three days before Christmas, and predictably, Congress is on track to pass yet another $1.7 trillion spending package that no one has had the chance to read,” Paul tweeted.
“Glomming together a 4,155-page, nearly two trillion-dollar bill and releasing it in the dead of night, days before we are forced to vote on it, is no way to run government,” he continued.

“No spending in the bill has been offset, so yet again, Republicans and Democrats are waiving rules and allowing the massive bill to become debt instead of being paid for by spending cuts.”
“I attempted to hold both parties accountable by forcing votes on these rules but per usual, a majority in the Senate – including Republicans – chose to run up the debt, ignore our own budget rules, and abuse your tax dollars. The American people don’t want this.”

“We the people demand accountability for the damage the Big Government spenders are doing to our families’, and our nation’s economic wellbeing. It’s time we take our nation’s fiscal health seriously and stop this terrible, awful, no-good way to run government.”

Paul also said “I’m disappointed in some of my fellow Republicans, who voted against respecting the taxpayers and for empowering themselves to spend your money with reckless abandon.”
The bill passed the Senate by a 68-29 vote.
