The House of Representatives has voted to ban assault weapons.
By a narrow vote of 217-213, Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats passed an assault weapons ban Friday evening; two Republicans, Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Chris Jacobs (R-NY), crossed the aisle to vote yes.
Five Democrats, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR), and Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) broke with their party to vote no.

The bill will now head to the Senate, where it is likely to fail.
