Rep. Ilhan Omar’s campaign spent roughly $6,500 on upscale hotels and private transportation during a three-month stretch that carried the Minnesota Democrat from Times Square to the California desert, according to a Fox News Digital review of federal campaign records.
The spending included stays at properties offering rooftop pools, panoramic views, cocktail bars, spas and even “organic mattresses,” a travel itinerary far removed from the bread-and-butter image cultivated by members of the far-left “Squad.”
Omar’s campaign reported paying $2,131.90 to W New York in Times Square and $1,613.23 to The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood between April 1 and June 30.
The campaign also listed $926.80 for the Ace Hotel & Swim Club Palm Springs and $682.41 for the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage, according to its latest filings.
Another $1,143 went to Blacklane Transportation, a chauffeur company that advertises business and first-class service using luxury vehicles from Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Cadillac.
Together, those five payments totaled $6,497.34.
The luxury charges represented only a portion of Omar’s campaign activity during the quarter. The committee reported more than $28,000 in overall travel expenses and another $23,000-plus for food, beverages and catering.
The expenditures were disclosed by Ilhan for Congress, Omar’s principal campaign committee, which files quarterly reports with the Federal Election Commission. The FEC identifies the committee as the Minnesota Democrat’s authorized campaign operation.
The records do not, by themselves, show that the spending violated campaign finance law. They also do not fully explain the political purpose of each trip, identify every traveler or establish that Omar personally used each hotel room or vehicle.
“Ilhan Omar is just another champagne socialist who wines and dines at luxury resorts while supporting policies that would make her constituents live in squalor,” Republican National Committee national press secretary Natalie Baldassarre told Fox News Digital.
The properties are hardly Motel 6 material.
The Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage promotes itself as a luxury resort overlooking Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley and the San Jacinto Mountains. Amenities include a spa, salon, fitness center, main pool, adults-only Vista Pool and whirlpool.
Guests who upgrade to Club access receive a private lounge, personalized service, a dedicated concierge and food and beverage presentations throughout the day.
The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood advertises a rooftop pool and lounge with views stretching from the Hollywood Sign to downtown Los Angeles.
Ace Hotel & Swim Club Palm Springs pitches two pools, a stargazing deck, a spa, a nightclub and rooms equipped with vinyl turntables and “organic mattresses.”
W New York in Times Square offers sweeping Manhattan views, suites, in-room dining and a cocktail bar featuring DJ sets.
Blacklane, meanwhile, promises a polished chauffeur experience rather than an ordinary ride to the airport. Omar’s campaign has spent more than $5,000 with the service since she joined Congress, according to Fox’s review.
The scrutiny places Omar alongside fellow “Squad” member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose campaign reportedly spent more than $53,000 at luxury hotels in 2025.
