STRETCHER SHOCK: New Video Shows McConnell Loaded Into Ambulance After Medical Emergency [WATCH]

Newly released video is shedding fresh light on the medical emergency that sent former Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell to the hospital last month.

CNN published footage Friday showing emergency responders wheeling the 84-year-old Kentucky Republican out of his Capitol Hill home on a stretcher following what dispatch audio previously described as an apparent cardiac arrest.

The video, reportedly recorded by a neighbor on June 14, shows D.C. Fire and EMS personnel loading McConnell into an ambulance. His face is not visible, while his lower legs are covered by an orange blanket with his bare feet exposed.

The neighbor told CNN another witness claimed to have seen McConnell’s face during the response.

“One of my neighbors is like, ‘Oh yeah, it’s Mitch, I saw his face,’” the anonymous resident told the outlet.

Previously released emergency dispatch audio indicated first responders found McConnell unconscious and performed CPR before transporting him to a local hospital.

Despite the seriousness suggested by the dispatch call, the neighbor who recorded the footage said the paramedics themselves did not appear visibly alarmed.

“In a situation where perhaps time is of the essence, there seems to be a little bit more urgency, but there was no urgency here,” the neighbor told CNN.

The newly released footage comes as speculation over McConnell’s health has spread online, with some commentators claiming the longtime senator suffered catastrophic brain damage following the incident. Those claims have not been substantiated.

Republican leaders have repeatedly insisted McConnell is recovering and remains actively involved in Senate business.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune said he spoke with McConnell by phone earlier this week, describing it as “a lengthy and substantive conversation” covering several issues, including national security.

Majority Whip John Barrasso likewise said the pair spoke for roughly 20 minutes and that McConnell was “fully engaged” and eager to return to Washington.

CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings, who previously worked as a McConnell adviser, also said the senator personally called him this week and “sounded strong.”

McConnell has battled a series of well-documented health scares in recent years, including multiple public freezing episodes, several falls, a concussion and fractured rib suffered in 2023, and a hospitalization earlier this year for flu-like symptoms. In recent months, he has been frequently seen navigating the Capitol in a wheelchair.

The longtime Kentucky lawmaker stepped down as Senate Republican leader in January 2025 after an 18-year run atop the GOP conference and later announced he would not seek another term in the Senate.
