WORD SALAD: AOC Calls Virus Aid ‘Major, Oligarchic, Economy-Shaping Power,’ Could ‘Consolidate Sectors’

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.28.20

Controversial Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doubled-down on her fierce critique of the House’s Coronavirus relief package Tuesday; calling the plan a “major oligarchic economy-shaping power.”

“Congress gave a $4 TRILLION check to Wall Street while sending mom+pops on a wild goose chase for PPP.

That is major, oligarchic, economy-shaping power Congress just gave the wealthy.

The LEAST we should do is halt big mergers during COVID to slow the consolidation of sectors,” posted AOC on Twitter.

Ocasio-Cortez faced a growing backlash Monday after voting “no” on the federal government’s Coronavirus relief package aimed at helping small businesses across the country.

“My concern is that we are giving away the farm,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters after the vote. “I cannot go back to my communities and tell them to just wait for CARES four because we have now passed three, four pieces of legislation that’s related to coronavirus. And every time it’s the next one, the next one, the next one, and my constituents are dying.”

“It is weighed very heavily to continue funding programs that are overwhelmingly favorite to the rich, that don’t have the fixes in PPP to make sure that this doesn’t go to Shake Shack again,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“My vote will be different today if we were planning on voting on CARES, tomorrow, or the week after that, in the next two weeks,” she said. “But the problem is that this is not an interim bill. This is the only bill we are voting on for the entire month of April. This is the April coronavirus response, it is not an interim bill. It’s not interim for people whose rent was due in April, it’s not interim for the people whose rent is due next week.”

AOC on VIRUS: Senate’s Bipartisan Coronavirus Relief Bill ‘Shameful!’… Nothing but ‘Crumbs’

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.27.20

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doubled-down on her fierce opposition to the Senate’s bipartisan Coronavirus relief package Friday; calling the legislation “shameful” and “crumbs” for American families.

“Our community’s reality is this country’s future if we don’t do anything. Hospital workers do not have protective equipment. We don’t have the necessary ventilators. We have to go into this vote eyes wide open,” said Rep. Ocasio-Cortez on the House Floor.

“Shameful! The greed of that fight is wrong, for crumbs for our families, and the option that we have is to let them suffer with nothing or to allow this greed and billions of dollars which will be leveraged into trillions of dollars!” she screamed.

AOC on VIRUS: US Must ‘Strip Profit Motive Out of Our Decisions’ to Promote ‘The Public Good’

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.10.20

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez weighed-in on the national Coronavirus crisis this week; saying America must “strip profit motive out of our decisions” to “reprioritize the public good.”

“We have to start demanding… that we strip profit motive out of our decisions and reprioritize the public good and the health of everyday people,” posted AOC on social media.

Ocasio-Cortez continued to comment on the “racist” impact of the Coronavirus Monday; saying the disease is mostly felt in “Black and Latino” communities across the country.

“To all the people that said ‘there’s no evidence racial disparities in COVID impact exist’. I represent the most impacted neighborhoods in the country: Corona & East Elmhurst. These are overwhelmingly Black & Latino neighborhoods. Louis Armstrong’s house is here,” posted AOC on social media.

“I incl that last detail to illustrate that these are also HISTORICALLY Black communities, which means they have been impacted by racist policies like redlining for generations. This pandemic is happening in CONTEXT. & a lot of folks who deny racism have no idea what it really is,” she added.
