President Donald Trump says Iran backed up its words with barrels.

After days of speculation over a mysterious “gift” tied to ongoing negotiations, Trump revealed Thursday that Tehran had allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz as a show of goodwill.

“They said… we’re going to let you have eight boats of oil, eight big boats of oil,” Trump said, describing the initial offer he received earlier this week.

At first, he didn’t put much weight on it. Then the ships showed up.

Trump said he later saw reports of multiple oil tankers moving through the Strait of Hormuz, confirming to him that the gesture was real.

“And I said, ‘Well, I guess they were right… and I think they were Pakistani flagged,’” he added.

The number grew from there.

According to Trump, Iranian officials followed up with an apology tied to earlier tensions and expanded the gesture to 10 tankers.

“They said, ‘We’re going to send two more boats,’ and it ended up being 10 boats.”

The development comes as U.S.-Iran negotiations continue amid a four-week conflict and rising global concern over energy supply routes.

Allowing tankers to move freely through Hormuz carries weight.

The narrow waterway handles roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil shipments, making any signal of stability or cooperation closely watched by markets and policymakers alike.
