Savannah Guthrie issued an emotional public plea Monday for help locating her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, more than a week after authorities said she was taken from her home in Arizona, as investigators pressed on amid reports of an approaching ransom deadline.
In an Instagram video, the Today co-host said her family believes Nancy is still alive and asked the public to stay alert for anything suspicious, even outside the Tucson area, as law enforcement continues the search.
“We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help,” Guthrie said, adding that authorities are “working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home.”
Guthrie said her family has felt an outpouring of support and prayed that her mother is “feeling these prayers” as the case enters another week without answers.
The appeal came as a second reported ransom deadline approached Monday afternoon. Local reporting has said the abductors demanded millions in bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return, and Guthrie and her siblings released a weekend video saying they were prepared to pay.
Authorities have said they believe Nancy was taken from her home against her will and are treating the property as a crime scene.
