President Trump is hosting a Cabinet meeting Thursday morning at the White House, less than 24 hours after announcing that the “first phase” of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas is set to begin.
During a phone call with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Trump said he believes the remaining hostages in Gaza will be released on Monday.
The president has also signaled plans to travel to the Middle East this weekend as negotiations continue toward ending the two-year war — and cementing what could become one of the defining peace deals of his presidency.
