White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt opened Monday’s briefing by urging peaceful political debate and condemning what she described as escalating rhetoric following the weekend shooting that disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Leavitt called for “peaceful debate and protest” and an end to what she described as “the hateful and constant and violent rhetoric against President Trump,” while also pressing Congress to resolve the ongoing Department of Homeland Security funding standoff.
