The Department of Homeland Security’s Inspector General has “declined” to review allegations of misconduct by horse-mounted Border Agents against Haitian migrants.
“The inspector general’s office has referred the case back to the DHS Office of Professional Responsibility, which ‘immediately commenced investigative work, including its review of videos and photographs and the interview of witnesses, employees, and CBP leadership,’ the DHS statement said, referring to Customs and Border Protection,” reports the Miami Herald.
“DHS remains committed to conducting a thorough, independent, and objective investigation,” the agency said. “DHS will share information, as available, consistent with the need to protect the integrity of the investigation and individuals’ privacy.”

“There will be consequences. It’s an embarrassment,” said President Biden after photographs of the encounter went viral on social media. “It’s wrong. It sends the wrong message around the world. It sends the wrong message at home. It’s simply not who we are.”
“The disciplinary process, which is separate from the fact-finding investigation, is subject to certain timelines established in CBP’s labor-management agreement with the employees’ union of the United States Border Patrol,” added the DHS statement.

BIDEN: Border Agents ‘Running Over’ Haitian Migrants with Horses ‘Will Pay’
President Joe Biden addressed the public Friday over a series of international crises -particularly the southern border- telling journalists Federal Agents seen on horseback “will pay” following an investigation.
“Given what we saw at the border this week, have you failed? This is happening on your watch. Do you take responsibility?”
“To see people treated like they did? Horses running them over? People being strapped? It’s outrageous. I promise you, those people will pay,” said the President. “There’s an investigation under way now and there will be consequences. It’s dangerous, it’s wrong. It sends the wrong message around the world.”

A new survey from Morning Consult spells more bad news for Joe Biden, with roughly 6 in 10 saying the country has “seriously gone off on the wrong track.”
“The study, conducted from Saturday to Monday, found that 61 percent of respondents believe the country is on the wrong track, compared to just 39 percent who say the country is ‘going in the right direction,’” reports The Hill.
“The survey also found a record-low overall approval rating for Biden at 47 percent, with 49 percent saying they disapproved of the president’s job performance overall,” adds the website.

Former Presidential Candidate Tulsi Gabbard called-out the Biden administration Wednesday night, saying the current crisis spiraling out of control along the US-Mexico is a direct result of the President’s policies.
“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the humanitarian and national security crisis on the southern border is the direct result of your open-border policy. As I said in my 2020 presidential campaign, we can’t have a secure nation if we don’t secure our borders,” posted Gabbard on Twitter.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters raised eyebrows among millions of Americans this week when she blamed Donald Trump for the current border crisis and claimed the situation in Texas is now “worse than slavery.”
“Haitians fleeing violence & the lack of a credible government in Haiti are being treated like animals. U.S. government cowboys on horses used whips on Haitians as they sought refuge. Why are we following the Trump policies? This horrendous treatment of Haitians must STOP NOW,” posted Waters on Twitter.
BIDEN’S BORDER: DHS Boss Confirms 12,400 Haitians Released into the USA This Month
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told Fox News Sunday at least 12,000 Haitian migrants have been released into the United States after entering the country near Del Rio, Texas.
“Approximately, I think it’s about 10,000 or so, 12,000,” Mayorkas responded when asked how many are being admitted into the US.
“It could be even higher. The number that are returned could be even higher. What we do is we follow the law as Congress has passed it,” Mayorkas said.
“Those who are in ICE custody are tested, isolated, and quarantined. Those who are expelled under the Title 42 Public Health Authority are returned immediately. They are not placed in immigration court proceedings, and those we do not test, because they are returned immediately,” Mayorkas said.
“We have enforcement guidelines in place that provide the individuals who are recent border crossers who do not show up for their hearings are enforcement priorities and will be removed,” Mayorkas added.
“It is the policy of this administration: we do not agree with the building of the wall,” the DHS Chief said. “The law provides that individuals can make a claim for humanitarian relief. That is actually one of our proudest traditions.”
