Democratic-Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted another bizarre rant on social media Wednesday; blasting a recent anti-AOC billboard in New York’s Time Square as billionaire-funded “propaganda.”
“Few things effectively communicate the power we’ve built in fighting dark money & anti-worker policies like billionaire-funded groups blowing tons of cash on wack billboards (this one is funded by the Mercers). (PS fact that it’s in Times Sq tells you this isn’t for/by NYers.),” tweeted Cortez.

Billionaires paying to put up anti-progressive propaganda in Times Square is like the obscenely rich version of the scene where Michael Scott points to the Bubba Gump and saying “This is it, this is the heart of civilization, right here.” 😂 https://t.co/NJXggcSZJv

Rep. Cortez ruffled feathers across the Big Apple in recent weeks after publicly celebrating Amazon’s decision to abandon their NYC headquarters; calling the move a win for “every day” workers.
MELTDOWN: Cortez Claims Amazon Creating ‘Racially-Biased’ Software for ICE, Says She's Not ‘Dumb’
Democratic-Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted a lengthy rant on social media Tuesday following fierce criticism of her handling of New York City’s botched Amazon deal; suggesting the software giant was creating “racially-biased technology” for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.
“Frankly, the knee-jerk reaction assuming that I ‘don’t understand’ how tax giveaways to corps work is disappointing. No, it’s not possible that I could come to a different conclusion. The debate *must* be over my intelligence & understanding, instead of the merits of the deal,” posted Cortez.

There’s no CHANCE that the speculative insider real-estate buys that were creating immediate spikes in rent in one of the most rent-burdened communities in NYC could have possibly been unpopular?https://t.co/wArbA7B1Q6

There was little in the fuzzy proposal that guaranteed jobs for actual NYers, yet lots of hard concessions from the public.
Queens saw how the FoxConn/Wisconsin disaster is working out – a $4.5 billion nightmare – & asked Qs.
The response? “This is above you, you won’t get it.”

Or that a technology giant of big-brother-esque potential was selling (notoriously flawed & racially biased) facial recognition technology to ICE while trying to move into 1 of the most immigrant-dense areas of the world?
No, it must be because I’m dumb.https://t.co/IoBixav34r

Folks handling the failed deal treated community w/condescension+disdain for their legitimate concerns.
I warned early to any & all that surging NYC costs+failing subways are creating major political forces to be reckoned with.
But I don’t know what I’m talking about, right?🤷🏽♀️

The liberal superstar found herself in hot-water this week after suggesting the city could use roughly $3 billion in Amazon’s tax breaks to fix the region’s subways and hire more teachers.
“If we were willing to give away $3 billion for this deal, we could invest those $3 billion in our district ourselves, if we wanted to. We could hire out more teachers. We can fix our subways. We can put a lot of people to work for that money, if we wanted to,” Ocasio-Cortez said last week.
ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK: Warren, Ocasio-Cortez Celebrate Amazon’s Plan to Ditch NYC
Prominent Democrats -including Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez- hailed Amazon’s decision to abandon its New York City headquarters Thursday; bizarrely calling the move to cancel 25,000 new jobs a win for “everyday New Yorkers.”
“Anything is possible: today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers & their neighbors defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world,” tweeted Cortez.

“One of the wealthiest companies on the planet – just walked away from billions in taxpayer bribes, all because some elected officials in New York aren’t sucking up to them enough. How long will we allow giant corporations to hold our democracy hostage?” added Warren.
