Chuck Schumer testified before Congress in support of workplace identification requirements to combat fraud. “One way to prove you’re a bona fide person who can have a job is to ask for a driver’s license and a Social Security card,” he said, arguing that such routine checks were essential to verify eligibility and prevent illegal hiring.
